Cellulose and Spray Foam Insulation

Foam Plastic Insulation — Hamilton, MI — RetroFoam Of West Michigan
RetroFoam of Southwest Michigan installs two types of insulation in your attic. Cellulose insulation, a type of wood- or paper-based insulation, and polyurethane spray foam. Cellulose insulation is thick, dense, and clumpy, with a consistency much like down feathers. Both insulation types can fit in enclosed areas and fill tight spaces. They can also conform around obstructions such as wires and ducts found both in walls and in attics. Call RetroFoam of Southwest Michigan at (269) 751-2000 to schedule a free consultation today.
How Cellulose Insulation Is Blown Into the Attic
The most common type that homeowners will encounter is called loose-fill cellulose insulation. This is slightly different from another type of cellulose insulation, which is designed to be blown onto open attic. With loose-fill insulation, the cellulose is dry. Polyurethane spray foam will fill in all the nooks and crannies to cover every inch.
Benefits of Cellulose Insulation
  • Stands up well against insects and vermin because it is treated with borates
  • Loose-fill cellulose insulation can settle around and conform to most of the obstructions found in walls and attics.
  • Loose-fill cellulose is inexpensive, with an R-value of 3.5 per inch of thickness
